Lead Medical Writer

For more information, visit www.icaxon.com.  We are looking for a Lead Medical Writer to join our team in Downtown Montreal.


The Lead Medical Writer is an experienced and versatile medical writer capable of performing some of the functions of a Medical Editor. The role will mentor Medical Writers.

Responsibilities/daily tasks:

Project-specific Tasks – Writing


As an experienced Medical Writer, the incumbent executes the medical writing tasks with autonomy and minimal supervision from the primary Editor. Materials produced are expected to be of a client-ready quality.

Project-specific Tasks – Editing

• Performs background research to develop content outlines for projects
• Assumes co-editing tasks as assigned by the Editor, eg, checking writer’s client changes, first-pass edit of documents, reviewing graphics, checking project consistency
• Follows up on feedback from Editor
• Organizes and prioritizes tasks to meet project deadlines, and delegates tasks when appropriate
• Interacts with clients during conference calls or onsite meetings to ensure expectations and specifications are met with respect to the content of projects
• Collaborates with stakeholders to map out project specifications
• Establishes style guides for projects
• Ensures that review procedures are followed
• Ensures that all copy is properly copy edited and proofed
 
Requirements:


• Graduate degree in lifesciences
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in medical or scientific writing, with demonstration of editing abilities
• Experience in training and mentoring Medical Writers
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills
• Experience working in teams and consensus building across the organization
• Ability to organize, meet deadlines, multitask, delegate tasks, be resourceful, and demonstrate good judgment and leadership
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with demonstrated ability to think on feet
• Availability to travel to the US (valid passport)
• Computer skills: Word, PowerPoint, ReferenceManager, Outlook, Excel, Internet
