Summary: Responsible for coordinating a Key Account as a Project and Programme Manager.  Initially, the account to be worked on is envisaged to be based in Hertfordshire. The PM will manage all aspects of assigned projects, liaising with the client, project team members, and senior management to meet both customer and company expectations.

 

Working within the Lorien Engineering Solutions (Lorien) framework of the Project Management System, to manage project design and installation activities and to represent Lorien as the ‘Project Manager’ and/or ‘Programme Manager’.

 

The PM will liaise with the BDM team and Director responsible for the account, and investigate opportunities for future sales and feed-back on typical sales value and design resource levels.

 

To represent Lorien as a professional organisation at all times, to the client, Lorien co-workers, and contractor/ supplier personnel, and the public at large.

To safeguard the commercial interests of Lorien at all times, and to control and report upon the commercial aspects of projects to the senior management of Lorien.

To comply with the letter and the spirit of the Lorien quality management system, Lorien safety management system, and relevant laws and regulations, and with the Client’s capital project management processes.

When unable to achieve a satisfactory outcome in terms of safety, health and welfare, to elevate the matter within the management structure of the project and/or Lorien line management, rather than allowing the matter not to be addressed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essentially take a verbal and/or written brief from a client and ensure that the assignments are well-managed as design and construction projects along the EPCM guidelines, following stage gate project management throughout the process. 

Working directly as the Project Manager for projects, and/or managing other PM’s to deliver projects for the end client.

Provide project governance and reporting across multiple active projects within the client project portfolio.

Liaise with the Client and provide engineering design and Management solutions that will enable our clients to focus on their business needs whilst allowing this PM role to focus on the engineering delivery.

Plan, manage and monitor the design, specification, procurement and construction phases of multi-disciplined engineering projects in liaison with Lorien project teams, client personnel and trade contractors / suppliers.

Management of project interfaces between technical, operational & senior management work streams and acting as the Project lead

Definition of project scope, goals and deliverables that support business requirements for the capital investment programme. Budget control of complex project work streams.

Planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting project timelines using appropriate tools to meet critical milestones.

To obtain approval and maintain project documentation

Managing commercial and contractual aspects of projects; including competitive tendering and contract negotiations.

Proactive management of change in project scope, identifying potential risks to delivery, cost or schedule, and devising contingency plans.  Confirmation and validation of delivered project scope versus requirements.

Prepare steering meeting / governance meeting reports and delivery of these to the senior management team of the client organisation.

Liaise with CDM co-ordinator regarding on-going design.

Co-operate with others and co-ordinate work so as to ensure the health and safety of construction workers and others who may be affected by the work.

Prepare project status and financial reports on behalf of Lorien, and delivery of these to the Lorien senior management team.

Management of Lorien engineering and site resources to achieve the overall aims of projects and to engender a good team spirit.

To communicate with internal and external agencies, staff, customers, management and peers in a manner appropriate to your position at all times.

To strive to identify additional business development opportunities with the client and develop “Key Account” relationships.

To act in accordance with your confidentiality agreement with the company at all times.

Location and Travel

Travel is expected inside and outside the UK, in visiting Clients and key suppliers.

Travel and residence at the Key Account client site(s) is a key part of this role. Initially this will be at Hertfordshire.

Essential Qualifications

A high degree of computer literacy – email, Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Ability to write detailed reports, minutes of meeting, cost tracking and scheduling reports, critical path plans, project / governance reporting, project risk register.

Excellent inter-personal skills and proven team working experience.

Business Development – Manage the sales opportunities from Key Accounts.

Proven effective communication skills.

Proven leadership, people and management skills.

An understanding of multi-disciplined engineering projects ie mechanical, electrical, automation & civil engineering disciplines

Experience as a Project Manager, with specific experience in FMCG or related manufacturing industry.

Contract management and knowledge of common contract types (IMechE, FIDIC, NEC, JCT, IChemE etc.)

Professional qualification (degree, HND, HNC etc)

Experience in delivering projects under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007
