Role: EMEA VAT Manager

 

 Based at the Company’s European Corporate Services Centre in Bredbury, UK, the VAT Manager will be responsible for the VAT compliance and advisory services for Operations in EMEA (currently 23 countries including the UK, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Poland).

 

In this hands-on role you will support the regional corporate tax accounting and compliance function, advise the business on a wide range of UK, EU, and international tax matters, and liaise with external advisors, HMRC, and other tax authorities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage all indirect tax compliance obligations and filing requirements for the EMEA legal entities, including handling of any audits, enquiries and foreign VAT refund claims.

Provide VAT advice in relation to global projects including ERP system changes, business restructuring and day to day operations.

Build and maintain the VAT control framework for EMEA, ensuring VAT processes are working effectively, and implementing solutions where appropriate.

Identification and implementation of VAT opportunities and process improvements, in line with regional strategies and the commercial objectives of the Company.

Support the accounting and audit process in with regard to VAT liabilities/receivables for EMEA.

Support the supervision and training of the Tax Associate assisting with indirect tax compliance.

Support other adhoc tax projects as needed including due diligence activities for potential acquisitions and new territory VAT registrations.

Ensure adherence to SOX 404 and internal control requirements of the Company.

About You:

Qualified Accountant ACA/CTA or equivalent, with significant indirect tax experience gained with a leading accountancy firm or an in-house multinational tax team.

Highly motivated individual with appetite for working in a fast-paced and commercially oriented business.

Organised and methodical individual, with the ability to plan and organise work effectively, delivering to deadlines.

Excellent communicator, both verbally and written, adopting the most appropriate medium for the situation.

Analytical, innovative, with good research and problem-solving skills. 

Ideally you will have experience of multiple country VAT regimes and enhancing ERP systems and processes for tax reporting and compliance
