US Sales Tax Accountant

GP Strategies is seeking an experienced sales tax professional based in India to prepare various US tax filings during February 2025. Position will be 100% remote.

Responsibilities

·         Work independently to prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual sales tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.  Including:

1.       Run various reports from the ERP system

2.       Prepare sales tax return workpapers

3.       Interact with finance team to resolve discrepancies

4.       Prepare reconciliation of sales tax reports to general ledger

5.       File sales tax returns online for each jurisdiction in United States

6.       Ensures compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations

7.       Make payments following established procedures.

8.       Maintain completion checklist to ensure all filings are completed timely.

·         Work independently to prepare business licenses, personal property tax returns and other filings as needed

·         Compilation of data in Excel files

·         Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is typically required.

Experience: Prior experience in sales tax compliance, accounting, or a related field is often preferred.

Skills:

·         Strong understanding of sales and use tax regulations.

·         Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

·         Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
