Learning Consultant

The GP Strategies Government Training Solutions Design and Development team is a premier provider of custom training programs, including:

·       Custom online courses with full audio, media, and learner interactivity

·       Instructor-led and virtual instructor led trainings

·       Podcasts, recorded presentations, print deliverables, and knowledge assessments

Summary: Provide instructional vision and consultation for all assigned projects by interfacing with client stakeholders and cross-functional project team members to deliver award-winning and industry leading learning solutions.

Key aspects of this position are to:

·       Analyze and clarify client needs, learner needs and opportunities to evolve or address performance gaps/needs.

·       Provide innovative learner-centric design solutions that address client needs while aligning to operational budgets.

·       Lead conversations, both internally with teams, and externally with stakeholders

·       Collaborate with clients and development teams to define and effectively deliver the promised solutions.

·       Represent instructional vision and ownership both internally and externally.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

·       Analyze learner performance needs including line of business goals, learner performance tasks and measurement criteria, performance curricula and environments and existing learning ecosystem components and maturity.

·       Conduct needs analyses using appropriate tools and methods such as systemic thinking, design thinking, task/job analysis and/or development thinking. 

·       Identify key aspects of the performance environment including tools and factors that may impede performance and that support learners' five points of need.

·       Design and facilitate working sessions/workshops to explore learners, context, and performance gaps.

·       Conduct measurement mapping activities that identify the alignment between strategic goals, business results, performance outcomes and measurements, and the current learning/organizational goals.

·       Document performance and learning outcomes that align with client-direction and inform design solutions

·       Recommend best approaches based on the outcomes of the needs analysis.

·       Create a high-level vision and sequence for solutions, such as curricula and learning journeys, including elements beyond the traditional Learning solutions and lines of service (for example facilitation, LMS integration, etc.) that align with client need and budget.

·       Create and articulate modern learning vision/approach that may include platforms, social-engagement, community-generated content (curation), AI-generated content, etc.

·       Design, conduct and analyze evaluation programs using levels 1, 2 & 3 evaluation both during learning experiences (for example, learning journeys) and post-learning.

·       Set the vision, take ownership and lead ID work for course, program and learning journeys to ensure the quality of deliverables.

·       Oversee and ensure instructional integrity of learning solutions throughout the design, development and delivery cycles.

·       Collaborate with different teams across the business to develop learning content and assets.

·       Build effective working relationships with SMEs to efficiently gather content information and feedback.

·       Manage projects efficiently so that tasks are completed on time, problems are anticipated or resolved quickly, and team members are clear on project requirements and schedules.

·       Support successful achievement of project goals, tasks, and deliverables through use both waterfall and agile approaches.

 

Qualifications:

·       Demonstrated application of evidence-based instructional design and performance-support approaches in client work for learning solutions that encompass full learning experiences (analog or digital, cohort or self-paced, with a live instructor or without).

·       Our successful Learning Consultants are proactive and have excellent communication, project management, team leadership, client facilitation, organization, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. They also display innovative, original thinking, creativity, and an interest in the future of learning ecosystems and learning technology. They have a positive outlook and love addressing challenges and bringing solutions to the table, are comfortable looking at the broader learning community for models and approaches to address unique client challenges, and must enjoy working with teams in a fast-paced, energetic environment.

Education: Master’s degree in Instructional Systems, Human Performance Technology or related field with at least five years’ professional experience preferred.  Equivalent experience may substitute for education.
